Dead are Mrs. Patricia L. Work, of 75 Chestnut St. and her daughter, Lavonja Bell, same address. Injured and taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital were Mrs. Work's two sons, Richard Bell, 8, in serious condition with a fractured left leg, possible fractured left arm and internal injuries, and Robert Bell, 7, head lacerations and shock. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Dept., Mrs. Work was traveling west on the Hall Road when her auto struck the second car of the northbound freight, at the unguarded crossing. Coroner Ralph J. Wallace pronounced both victims dead at the scene. Investigation was by Sgt. John R. Bentley and Patrolmen Donald Szwejbka and James Tytka. DOUBLKE FUNERAL SET FOR MOTHER AND DAUGHTER: MAYVILLE: Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Lillian Work, 26, of 75 Chestnut St., Westfield, and her two-year-old daughter, Lavonja D. Bell, who were killed in a car-train accident at 5:15 p.m. Friday (June 20, 1969), will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mayville. The Rev. Craig Bartholomew will officiate. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery. Mrs. Work was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Westfield, the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy Arnold Giles of Hartfield. She had been employed as a garment worker in Westfield. Mr. and Mrs. Work were married May 17, of this year in St. Mark's Church. Whe was a member of St. Mark's Church and was a Sunday School teacher there; and a member of I.L.G.W.U. Surviving are her husband, Rodney Work; two sons, Robert and Richard Bell at home, her parents of Hartfield; four sisters, Mrs. Nancy Gilbert, Mrs. Mark Conaway, Miss Mikki Giles and Miss Cheryl Giles, and a brother, Arthur A. Giles, all of Hartfield. Mrs. Work's daughter, Lavonja D. Bell was born April 27, 1967, in Westfield. She was christened in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mayville. She is survived by her father, Robert Bell, of Mayville; her brothers, Robert and Richard Bell; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Giles of Hartfield; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bell, Jamestown; and her great-grandmother, Mrs. Alma Lawson of Jamestown.

She is buried in the Dewittville Cemetery.She had a brother William Hawley in 1942 of Dewittville. Lee's brother - Claire Gravit was born Dec. 5, 1898 at Dewittville. He died Jan. 13, 1977 WCA Hospital. He is buried in the Dewittville Cemetery.

There was a post on World Connect, now deleted, listing her as married to George Wise and buried in Bentley Cemetery, however the recent post of Gladys (Wise) Fuller gives her parents as George Wise and Cornelia Boswell so that doesn't look good. Can find nothing more on Cornelia Boswell either. They were approx the same age though.
