I've done a search online for Thayer Farm information and haven't come accross anything more than odd's and ends. I'm looking for history on the home and maybe a little information on who owns it now. Is it still a private residence? I know a little about how it served as an underground railroad in the days of slavery. I know a little about its haunted history as well, since my mom's family once lived in the home. She has told me about finding some of the secret passages and how she was never allowed to explore them. I'm curious to find any information on this home, and the family it's named for if possible. Is the cemetery still behind it? And what are the names of the cemeteries eternal reidents. Thanks for anything you can give me. Shell

I'm now trying to find information, images, and documentation on my Great Grandmother Gladys Watson. She was born in Cochesett, Massachusetts on June 17, 1899. She married Clinton Herd Watson in Newburgh, NY on June 20, 1920. What I'm trying to find is information on where she went to school and earned her teaching degree. She taught at Jamestown High School for a number of years, but I have no information on how long or what she taught. If anyone has access to the schools records I would love any information you can get me, as well as any images possible. I've also included a photograph of her with her husband Clinton Herd Watson and their daughter Gladys Ruth (Watson) Smith. Maybe someone out there will recognize her as their teacher! Thank you! Surnames: Horton, Love Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SRB.2ACE/286.507.1.1.1.2.1.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello list, I continue to post messages regarding my husband's Horton family in the hopes that the updated information will help me make a connection with another researcher or elicit suggestions as to how I can pursue this family further. My husband's gr-gr-gr grandfather, Charles Horton, of Gerry was either married three times or married twice and had an illegitimate child with a third woman. My theory is that Charles Horton first married Charlotte Shepardson, and they had two children together, Thomas and Daniel. It seems likely that Charlotte passed away as a result of childbirth in 1838 given that's also Daniel's year of birth. Charles then married Philetta (maiden name unknown), and they had seven more children together...Ellen, Edwin, Eurette, Lucious, Charlotte, Frank, and Charles. I did not know about the three youngest children until I came across Philetta living in Otiscounty Township, Waseca County, Minnesota per the 1860 U.S. Federal Census. I believe my husband's gr-gr grandfather Emery Horton was the result of Charles' third relationship with a woman named Margaret Love. I can't say if the couple ever married because Emery's birth would have occurred *before* the births of the children Frank and Charles. Emery and his mother Margaret are living with Reuben and Roxy Shepardson on the 1860 Census in Clymer. What's so tidy about the whole thing is that the daughter Charlotte was 9 years old on the 1860 Census and then Frank was 5 and Charles was 3...Emery fell right in the gap at age 7 years as of 1860. I realize the civil registration of these events was not required in New York, but I'm wondering if there are some Chautauqua Co. records which may have pre-dated the legal requirements, or if not, church records in the town of Gerry where most of these events would have occurred. Can anyone advise me of where to go next? As always, any reply is much appreciated. Lisa Hopp
