A Jamestown resident since 1942, he was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Titusville, Pa., a son of Frederick and Anna Moran Radack. For 57 years, he was employed by Quality Markets, retiring in 1976 as vice president. He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Jamestown, and a member of the Celtics, Elks and the DD's. His immediate family numbered 100 this past year. He was a devoted husband and family man and enjoyed bridge, golf and hunting. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Hesch, whom he married Oct. 3, 1933; 11 children: Lora A. Hansen of Houston, Mary L. Benson of Bemus Point, William J. Radack Jr. of Jamestown, Francis C. Radack of Dallas, James P. Radack of Waterford, Conn., Eleanor R. Certo of Richmond, Ind., John F. Radack of Campbell, Ohio, D. Michael Radack of Rochester, Richard C. Radack of Tucson, Ariz., R. Patrick Radack of Durham, N.C., and Kathryn M. Gustafson of Delray, Beach, Fla.; 37 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Blomgren of Chicago. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michelle Marie and Catherine Ann Certo; three sisters: Mary Wig, Margaret Blomgren and Ruth Ferguson; and two brothers: Carl and Frederick Radack. A lifelong area resident, he was born in Jamestown, Aug. 30, 1913, son of Dr. Frank G. and Louisa Burger Shepard. He was a graduate of Alfred University. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. Surviving are his wife, the former Belle E. Kesby; four daughters, Bonnie Whitehill, Delaine Shields and Rosmond Reifrey, all of Bemus Point, and Louise Edwards of Sinclairville; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosamond Anderson. The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Randy Thorpe, pastor of Ellery Center Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
