I live up in the Buffalo area so when I do come down I try and plan a couple of things to look for, so I make the best of my time.

Surnames: SMITH, STONEMAN, PERKINS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SRB.2ACE/11996 Message Board Post: Jane Stoneman, born about 1814 in New Berlin, Chenango County, NY, is a daughter of Richard and Mary Perkins Stoneman. Sometime after the death of Richard in 1821, most of the Stoneman family moved to Chautauqua County, NY. The families of Mary [Perkins] Stoneman and George Stoneman [a son of Richard and Mary] appear in the 1830 census for Busti. I can account for Jane, who would have been 16, living with her mother. I can not find her after that. I assume she was married by the 1840 census. According to the will of her brother William Stoneman, dated 1887, Jane Smith was deceased as were her children. However there was a grandchild. The grandchild's name was not mentioned, nor was his place of residence. I would like to find out the first name of Jane Stoneman's husband, _______Smith, and where they lived after their marriage. If anyone knows who the children were, I would appreciate that information as well. Also, I would like to find out where and when Jane Smith died. I have quite a bit of Stoneman information and would share with anyone else looking into this family. Thanks. Robin McKay

You can get records from them by going to the office located at 907 Lake View Avenue, Jamestown, NY, or by writing to them or calling at 716-665-3206. Copies of records can be made for a fee and they often have the obituary from the Jamestown newspapers, thus saving you a trip to the library. If you live close enough, it is worth the visit, as it is a very beautiful cemetery.

Zachariah was a carpenter by trade. What was going on in the 1840's in your area to want them to move from Maine to NY & then move to Canada by 1843 and then to MO. by 1850? Pardon my ignorence on 19th century New York commerce. I know MO. history but am unfamiliar with your area. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Please email me directly SUEBROZ@AOL.COM. I had a man steal 5 yrs of research online and am really paranoid of direct postings. I'll share info with you if possible. Thanks, Sue
