I have this family tree already, as the Apthorps are well documented, The Bollings have been especially helpful, as well as a cousin I have been working with, Sandy Apthorp. Unfortunately, her line follows the Barden side and mine does not! So I have to discount all the Barden research that has been done. The Bollings have given me oral family history on Mary Alice Apthorp Snyder but seems not much is known about Mary Alice Bains, except that she was the Mother of Mary Alice (May) and was indeed raised by David Apthorp, Caroline Barden and Lily Snyder Apthorp. Is it known that May's Mother was not Caroline Barden Apthorp within the family. (The Apthorps and the Snyders married(?) each other a lot! .) There is a Grape Belt article in one of the resources at Barker Library that states there was the death of Rosie May Apthorp (She was the illegitimate daughter of Minnie (Arminda) Apthorp and Charles Wingblade) and also listed in the household was was "Mr. Apt! horp's other daughter" (meaning May age was correct), something like that, my records are not here with me here in Florida. Unfortunately, my Father and Mother never discussed anything family in front of my sister and me. Charles David and Mary Alice (May) Apthorp (My Father's parents) died within a month of each other right at the time of my Parent's Marriage, so they were never in my life. I am current trying to locate living relatives to see if they have any Bibles, newspaper clippings, etc. As the family was never close, it has been hard to track the few first cousins I know of. There was a Ruth Snyder from Dunkirk NY, married name unknown, that passed within the past 2 years, she was my father's cousin and she does have childen, but I am unaware of their names, although they must be my age! Thanks again!

Avery, was the one in the Civil War. Per the pension papers, he was in Company D of the 128th regiment, side served, Union. I am thinking since the info you provided to me on William Avery, may clarify the Decatur, GA as really Decatur CO, Ind. As I read in the papers, John was honorably discharged at Indianapolis, IN. Although in the papers states he fought in the Battle of Atlanta. I need to go over these papers again. Thank you very much for you help.
