    1. [NYCHAUTA] Erastus LOVE son of Richard LOVE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: HoppLisa Surnames: Love Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chautauqua/20943.3.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to get my facts straight regarding the dates of death for Erastus LOVE and his father Richard LOVE. Per the "History of Erie County" (Chicago: Lewis Pub. Co., 1909), P. 332: "...Erastus Love, was born near Attica, New York, a son of Richard Love, a farmer, who moved from Wyoming county, New York to Chautauqua county in pioneer days, and there, living with his children, spent his last days, dying at the remarkable age of one hundred and four years." More from the "History of Erie County": "...[Erastus] then came to Corry, Pennsylvania, where he resided during the remainder of his life, passing away at the age of seventy-five years." Per the 1850 Census, Erastus was born abt. 1811 so according to this excerpt, he died abt. 1886 in Corry. Yet, I've seen several family trees posted with different death dates and the location listed as Chautauqua Co. Anyone have more facts to support the "History of Erie County"? Also, I've seen several family trees post father Richard's death as 9 March 1847 in Sinclairville, Chautauqua Co., NY. Yet the "History of Erie County" leads me to believe that he lived well beyond 1847. Anyone have more information about Richard's death? Thanks! Author: HoppLisa Surnames: Love, Bucklin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chautauqua/20943.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Dee, Thank you for the military information on Marvin LOVE and the attached pages from the "History of Erie County". However, those pages are discussing Marvin's brother Milton, who lived and died in Erie Co., PA. Marvin died sometime between the 1860 Census and the 1865 New York Census. Per the 1865 New York State Census, Marvin's wife Mary (BUCKLIN) is living in her father's household in Gerry, Chautauqua Co., just as she and Marvin were in 1860. However, in 1865 she is listed as age 32, once married, childless, and a widow. I have written to the library in Fredonia to possibly get more information on this LOVE family. I will be sure to post the highlights of whatever my latest search turns up. Thanks again, Lisa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have communicated with Lakeview Cemetery and know his daughter, Martha Jane, and son-in-law, Daniel Roberts, are buried there but not Lorenzo nor his wife, Martha Francis. I have also written NY state for a death certificate for Lorenzo Talbot, but have not had a reply in over three months. I expected a "no record" reply at least, for my $22.00. Oh, well. In general, most documents are destroyed after six years of inactivity. It is unlikely that the documents you seek exist any longer. The Chautauqua County Poor House documents have survived more by indirection than by design. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Ummmm, without saying anything bad about this let's just say that there seems to be a problem with software at Ancestry that is affecting a lot of lists. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
