He was very fleshy and his illness was serious. It was not believed by his family however that it was fatal, and the nearness of death was not suspected by them. Therefore it was a terrile shock to his wife when their little son Willie sent on an errand to his fathers room came out and declared he was dead. Mr MAUCHER was b in Germany Sept 24, 1840 came to America 18 yrs ago, since then except 4 yrs spent in Buffalo he has been here. He was 75 yrs of age and being naturally very active, did considerable work daily on his little farm. Friday some cattle broke into his magnificent field of winter wheat, and he over heated himself getting them out. He complained somewhat toward evening but was seen as late as 6 PM working in his yard. He was suddenly taken ill with apoplectic symptoms and died at 9 PM He owned the old ??den Farnsworth farm having come in possession of it 34-35 yrs ago, shortly after his marriage to Miss LUCY FARNSWORTH, who survives him along with 3 daughters and a son all children of his first wife. He deemed an inquest unnecessary. The subject was Mrs Sally WHEELER who committed the act tuesday night at the residence of her son in law D.C. VanVLACK. She was found hanging behind the bedroom door. She had taken some seine twine and twisted, making a rope of about 1/4 inch. She placed the rope over the hinge, between the door and jamb, fastening it on the other side with a towel. The body had been hanging for some time when her daughter found her and nearly fainted at the sight. A native of Jamestown, she was born July 5, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Rose Barile Ferino. She was the wife of Peter J. Scheira, whom she married May 18, 1944. She was a 1940 graduate of Jamestown High School and 1943 from Gallinger School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre from Aug. 1, 1944 to Nov. 16, 1945, and attained the rank of second lieutenant. She was a registered nurse at Marlin Rockwell Corporation Division of TRW for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Formerly she was a private duty nurse for eight years and employed at the former Jamestown General Hospital and was a gifted nurse in the premature pediatrics department at WCA Hospital. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Pressure Clinics and a member of the New York State Nurses Association. She loved music, dancing and adored her grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Rosemary Kutschke of ! Jamestown; a son, Peter R. Scheira of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Rochelle Mole of Jamestown, Steven Rossi of Newport News, Va., Scott M. Scheira of Charleston, S.C., Jeanne C. Anderson of Bemus Point, Peter M. Scheira of Mammoth, Calif., and Julie E. Scheira of Lakewood; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jennie Fashano of Santa Clara, Calif. She had been a resident of Fredonia for the past 12 years. She retired in 1987 from Brocton Central School where she had been the secretary to the superintendent of the school. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher of the Tri-Church Parish of Brocton. She was a former Brocton Cub Scout den mother and was an officer of the Brocton Little League Baseball and member of DAR. She was an avid player of Scrabble and Up Words and had talent as a seamstress. She also enjoyed going to perfor mances at the local area theaters. She was a devoted parent and grandparent. She is survived by six sons, Gerald S. Barnes of Dunkirk, NY, John L. Barnes of Titus ville, Fla., Robert L. Barn! es of Huntsville, Ala., Jay S. Barnes of Chicago, Ill., and Jefferson T. Barnes of Buffalo, NY; one daughter, Betty Barnes of Fre donia, NY: 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Barnes, whom she married in 1937 and preceded her in death in 1968; and two sisters, Janet Cuoco and Lourene Wheelock. He owned and operated Erickson Jewelry on East Second Street, and in his home in Panama for over 40 years. Prior to moving to Jamestown in 1965, he was active in the Panama Boy Scouts and the Panama Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are two sons: Keith M. Erickson, Jr. and Charles C. Erickson, both of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Brian Erickson, Kevin and Stefanie Erickson, and one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Erickson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi Erickson, whom he married April 24, 1946, and who died March 22, 1990; and a daughter, Barbara Parmalee who died Dec. 24, 1965. She was also active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, with which she took pets from the SPCA to visit patients in area nursing homes. She is survived by five nieces: Anita J.
