Those acquainted with him were not so surprised , as they had seen signs that his troubles were wearing on him. Mr DAILEY kept a store and saloon on the northeast corner of 5th and Elk st. and for a year and a half has been affected by trouble in various shapes. HIs wife died 10 months ago, and this was a severe shock to him. All these troubles led him to drink heavily, and his daughters say he has not been normal lately. He asked his dau ELIZABETH where the rat poison was kept, she asked why? he stated he wanted to take some of it, as he did not care to live. She told him she had thrown it away, and did so the next day. At night he was taken sick and she sat with him, giving him tea, she heard him get up between 5 and 6 and go downstairs and get a tea cup out of the cupboard, and fiull it with water, she heard nothing more, and went in to check on him about 11 and he was dead. The coronor determined he had drunk the rat poison tea, labeled "Rough On Rats" and issued a verdict so. Mr DAILY was 49 yrs old leaving 3 daughters and 1 son, the youngest child. His life was insured for $200.00 Lake Shore Observer (Dunkirk, New York) > 1885 > October > 2 ------------------------------------------------ Michael Daily Home in 1880: Stockton, Chautauqua, New York Age: 43 Estimated birth year: abt 1837 Birthplace: Ireland 1880 Michael Daily 43 Mary Daily 38 Maria Daily 16 Lizzy Daily 13 (Elizabeth) James Daily 9 Nora Daily 2 This may be the Michael DAILY that served in the Civil War from NY there were so many I could not determine the correct data; Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
