She was born April 15, 1912, in Corry, Pa., the daughter of Perry Johnson and Jenny Berry Akam. She was a graduate of Hoff Business College in Warren. She had been employed as an administrative secretary by Aero Manufacturing, Jamestown Plywood and in the surrogate court of Chautauqua County. She was a life member of the Busti Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, where she celebrated 50 years of service. She was also a member of the Lakewood-Busti Senior Citizens, the Golden Agers, the Rod and Gun, and Community, Sewing and Scotty clubs. She was well-appreciated for her sense of humor and caring attitude. She loved dancing and particularly enjoyed the square dances held at the Busti Fire Hall, especially the polka. She developed numerous friendships and in her later years, especially enjoyed camping and the ladies birthday outings as well as visits to see her children and granddaughters. She is survived by a daughter, N. Kathleen Houston of Marion, N.Y.; a son, Ronald Boyd o! f Rockville, Md; and a granddaughter, Jenny Boyd, Germantown, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ronald D. Boyd; and a brother, Harold Akam. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. There was no railroad in Chautauqua Co, they came to Buffalo from NY by canal, then by boat to Milwaukee and settled on a farm in Wisconsin, staying there 3 yrs.times were hard; They came to Chautauqua CO by steamer, to Dunkirk, and located near Mayville. the next year in 1854 located to their pleasant home in Fredonia.
