She was a member of Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion Auxiliary and the Ellington Congregational Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing and knitting. For many years, Mrs. Mahle worked as a cook for the former Dickinson's Restaurant in Fredonia. She retired as a home health care aide for Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. in Dunkirk after four years of service. A member of the Ladies of the Moose - Dunkirk Lodge 89, she formerly belonged to the Dunkirk Eagles Club, Forestville Chapter No. 247 Order of the Eastern Star, Church of the Nazarene in Brocton and the Dunkirk Community Chorus. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Lambert of West Columbia, S.C., Patricia Kingsley of Irving and Susan Anthony of Silver Creek; one brother, Domer Nulph of Erie; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. While her church family fed her soul and her friends were as much a part of her life as her own family, Carol will be remembered for the many ways in which she fed everyone through her friendship, her cookies, and her meals. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her great-granddaughter, Makena Rose. Moving to Norfolk, Va. in 1944, she was employed by Texaco Corporation as an executive secretary. She later worked for Texaco in Atlanta, GA and Richmond, VA. While in Norfolk, she was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for 40 years. Returning to Jamestown in 1986, she was a member of Zion Covenant Church and was a former member of Ingjald Lodge 65 IOV. She was a longtime member of the Texaco Retirees Association. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews and best friend Erma Desmond. She was an accomplished pianist and organist who loved music and often played and sang during many family gatherings. She always maintained close connections to her husband's family in Southampton County, Va., especially her niece, Nancy Hargrave Nagle Bolio of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Endersen, whom she married June 17, 1848, in Warren, and who died April 5, 1999; an infant son, David in 1952; and a brother, Robert Scofield in 1997.
