I am new to the list, I joined hoping to track down the ancestors of my great-great grandfather, John Woodworth. Here is what I know about him: John Woodworth was born about 1818 in New York. He married Mary Caroline Johnson on 8 Jan 1845 in St. Peters Protestant Episcopal Church in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York. Mary was the daughter of Isaac W. Johnson and Nancy Dow. After Nancy Dow died around 1839 Isaac Johnson married Mary Kelsey. John and Mary had a daughter, Mary Jane born 22 Feb 1847 in Auburn. Sometime between Feb 1847 and May 1849 they moved to Ohio. The 1850 census for Brownhelm, Ohio lists John Woodward, age 32 and his wife, Mary. We know, because of the names of their two oldest children, that this is John and Mary Woodworth. There was an Edward Woodward, age 33, living with them. John and Mary had a son, Isaac Johnson Woodworth, born in Brownhelm in Dec 1850. John Woodworth died in 27 Aug 1858 in Cortland Twp., De Kalb County, Illinois. I've seen information on a John Woodworth, wife Mary Johnson, son Johnson Woodworth in Mayfield, Fulton County, New York. The dates are similar, but the discrepancies are greater than the similarities, except for the names. It's all very confusing, can anyone help me find John's ancestors?
