    2. Was there ever a Syracuse County in early New York history? I have relatives as being listed from Cayuga or Syracuse County in the early 1840s. Also, was the town of Scott in present-day Corltand County ever a part of Cayuga County? It is the principal city in Onondaga County. Onondaga County was formed from Herkimer County 5 March 1794, and included the original Military Tract. Cayuga County was taken of 8 March 1799.
