According to AUBURN NEW YORK IN THE HEART OF LAKE COUNTRY published ca. 1913: "In the year 1858 Mr. David M. Osborne began manufacturing at Auburn the Kirby Hand Rake Reaper, also an improved Feed Cutting Box, his factory being the building on Genesee Street, which forms about one-quarter part of the present main office..... "The average number of employees at the Osborne Works (exclusive of the sales and collections departments) for the past season was 2455, with a pay roll of #1, 568,681.23." According to this article the company had been purchased by International Harvester by 1913. Does anyone know how much longer the factory remained in operation?
