Sue: It sounds like your family belongs to "the other" Ward family. I come across them occasionally in my research and even went to school with some back in the late 70's and early 80's in Moravia. I think this is part of a family that has been around since the early 1800's or before even. My family didn't arrive here until 1852- whether these others were cousins that were already here or what I have no idea. My lines pretty much stayed between Owasco and Cayuga Lakes, ie. Scipio, Ledyard, Fleming area. I know one branch moved into Niles at sometime because there is an old family farm on Rockefeller Rd. Another part of this line moved to Niles in the years just before 1919: William and Frances (Ingalls) Ward. They had two sons, Allen and Burton and in 1919, their third and final son, Gordon was born in a house on Duryea St, just north of the Moravia/Niles town line. In 1923, they moved onto Rockefeller Rd in Moravia. These are my lines-- Gordon was my father.
