Dear Michael & Harriett Hurdle, The 1850 New York Census INDEX of Cayuga County, in Genoa towship, shows a Lockwood Ferris on page 77. I do not have immediate access to the Census so cannot now help you there. It was of interest to me that Genoa (in 1850) was called Milton in 1800. I know it because our GGG grandparents Joseph Vannatter/Van Etten & wife Hannah lived in Milton on their Revolutionary War Military Land Bounty between at least 1794 and 1800. I would love to know if Joseph's daughters married someone and stayed in the area. (Interestingly, Census records of 1800 and Deed books list his surname incorrectly every time (even Van North on occasion) apparantly because English was his second (to Dutch) language and because he was illiterate, too. Sincerely, Bob Swenson > > > Looking for anyone with access to the 1850 New York Federal Census and index > who could find the family record associated to Lockwood FERRIS.
