Dear Lister, A fellow lister, in response to my email of four days ago, asked how I had accessed the earliest, 1794 Deeds of Cayuga County. I looked up and then ordered two reels from LDS in SLC which were sent to our local Family History Center. LDS Film No. 850914 is filed alphabetically under the surname of the grantor: i.e. *Grantors Deed Index* beginning in 1793. It has the tremendous virtue of listing (in the index without having to look at the actual Deed Record) the Town and Lot number, and the Acreage involved, in addition to location of the Record (liber number and page number). The second LDS Film No. is 850924 and was identified as an *Index to Grantee Deeds* beginning in 1793. This, too, is microfilm ordered on temporary loan from SLC. The title is misleading in that BOTH Grantor and Grantee are indexed on this one microfilm. However this Index does not show Town, Lot and Acreage numbers. I do not know how far into the 1800s these indices go, but that you will read from the description given by LDS OnLine ar at your friendly local FHC! Sincerely, Bob Swenson
