Hi Mark, Forgive me for being so tardy in getting back to you on Melvin Brown. It is possible your Melvin Brown could be a son of a brother to Samuel Right/Wright Brown. However, I don't know any of them!!! One of Samuel's sons named one of his sons, Melvin. He was born 3 Apr 1858 in Bath, Steuben County, NY. The family later moved to McHenry County, IL in the mid 1860s when Melvin was a little boy. Most children were named after close relatives or family friends in those early days. Much more than today's children. This Melvin never married and died at the home of his niece, Orissa Brown of Wauconda, WI. He died of Atrophic Chirrosis...(Drinking problem?)
