Hello Susan, First thing I check is the Cayuga County NYGENWEB & the index of the Cayuga County Biographical Review for family names, then view the scanned pages for a link. I found an Jonathan Ingersoll & lots of Parker's,. Then since Augustus went to MI I checked the Gendis MI death index & found him. I googled Augustus & found another entry, but I found no James & Rachel (Ingersoll) Parker, although I found someone on genforum looking for the family of an Archiblad Parker of Cayuga County & his wife, Hazel Mae weaver & they had 17 children & lived in Cayuga County, NY, also. I guess next would be the 1850 Census, if James &/or Rachel were still living or 1860. In 1880 Thomastown, Saginaw Co., MI Augustus is listed as Augustin and states his parents were born in New York, he in NY, so: Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace Augustin PARKER Self M Male W 67 NY Farmer NY NY Mary PARKER Wife M Female W 41 CAN Keeping House CAN CAN Margaret PARKER Dau S Female W 10 MI At School NY CAN William PARKER Son S Male W 9 MI At School NY CAN Phellena PARKER Dau S Female W 7 MI At School NY CAN -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Census Place Thomastown, Saginaw, Michigan Family History Library Film 1254603 NA Film Number T9-0603 Page Number 198D Here is the death record: MI GENDIS has this recorded about Augustus Parker: PARKER, AUGUSTUS Date of death: 29-Oct-1881 Ledger Page: 108 Record Number: 776 Place of death: Thomastown County of Death: Saginaw Sex: Male Race: WHITE Marital Status: Married Age: 69 years 2 months 17 days Cause of Death: ACCIDENT Birthplace: NEW YORK Occupation: FARMER Father's Name: Parker, JAMES Father's Residence: CAYUGA CO NEW YORK Mother's Name: PARKER, RACHAEL Mother's Residence: CAYUGA CO NEW YORK Date of record: 5-Jun-1882 Names are in the form last name, first, middle. I have gone ahead and worked through the NYGENWEB pages and censuses. Many Parkers and Ingersols, but not James Parker. Thanks for the great response.
