    3. Hmm, progress, I wonder what the local Indians thought when the stones were collected from the fields & made into homes & fences? Did they miss the grassy or wooded hills & the deer? Just a thought. It is a shame that the old stone buildings are being torn down, but I still see remnants of one in one photograph, is it still there & do you have a NY State historical society that can designate it a historical building? This is what CA does to preserve the Missions & adobe homes that someone wants to destroy or replace.. If NY was CA, when the car dealership is torn down, a planning commission would tell the owners what to build & how their property should look. Hoping I can travel back to NY sometime & see some of what my ancestors saw when they lived in Cayuga County from early 1800's to 1870's. Thank you for posting these photo pages. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Hecht" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 1:38 PM Subject: [NYCAYUGA] Gillespie stone barn tear down > Here is a picture taken today as compared to what the site used to be up > till about 1950 ? > > small version > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~springport/pictures_27/2790now&then_small.jpg > large > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~springport/pictures_27/2790now&then.jpg > > > ==== NYCAYUGA Mailing List ==== > Going on vacation?
