Suggest you also post your query to the Otsego, Chemung, Tioga and Tompkins County website as many Dennis families lived in these counties. Also many of the original borders for various counties & town names in central NY (as we know them today) were divided and changed many times from abt 1790 until the early 1900's. My paternal Ggrandmother, Elta Belle (DENNIS) Hart was originally from the Candor area of Tioga County; her grandfather, Charles Dennis migrated to Candor from Otsego county (1850 census for Candor indicated he was born in there; his parents were John and Abigail Dennis.)
