    1. [NYCAYUGA] Re: NYCAYUGA-D Digest V00 #29 -PARCELL/PURCEL(L)
    2. Ron Myers
    3. Linda, Variants can/may be mis-spellings (as in bad transcription), but to view them as that alone may not be entirely accurate. "Different strokes for different folks," as they say. Also, are you on a PARCELL surname list somewhere? I looked under rootsweb and noticed there IS a "PURCELL" list (which includes variants), but NO "PARCELL" list. (The list jumps from PARAMORE to PARCHER) You might want to check it out. SEE: Surname/Family Lists Hosted by RootsWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/surnames/index.html RM PS: I was born and raised in Southern Cayuga county and knew a Purcell family who lived there. =========== Linda Selub wrote: > Ron -- I do not know, but given how many names were mis-spelled over the > years, it could be possible. > Linda > > -----Original Message----- > From: Ron Myers > Linda, > Would "PURCEL(L)" be a viable variant of PARCELL?
