Hello, New to list. Love the Cayuga County website, one of the better for NYS or should say one among only a few best. Tracked my ancestors from Lonaconing Maryland to Auburn NY in 1899. The Andrew and Hannah Mooney family. They were living at 161 Van Ness in 1900. One of their son's Michael married an Anna Quinn from Lonaconing in 1902 and some of her family followed them back to Auburn, her dad James Quinn and brother Patrick. One of Andrew's daughters Evelyn was married to a Joseph Ruane in 1920. Joseph worked in a shoe factory, may have been McCarthy's. Does any one know the name of a woolen factory in Auburn and if there are any photos of it available online? I can provide more names and birthdates etc if it would be helpful, just wondering if anyone has any of these surnames in their family history. I have more questions about where to go for research in Auburn itself but I will save them for another note. Thank you kindly, Sue [email protected] Spencerport, NY
Sue, The Auburn Woolen Company is listed in the "Lamey's 1900 Auburn Directory" on Mill & Owasco St (?). There is also a Melrose Woolen Co. at "Canoga at Owasco Outlet". http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycayuga/directry/aub1900/A.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue DiGiacco" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 09, 2005 7:51 AM Subject: [NYCAYUGA] Mooney Ruane Quinn > Hello, New to list.
