David's wife Polly is perhaps also known as Mary and maiden name perhaps is RICE. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Mary, Sophia, and Phebe DEVOE; who they married. Some of these DEVOE and their descendants migrated to Wayne County and Monroe County, New York. **Daniel L. Joseph and Sarah did have a son: Reuben J. DEVOE 1883 to 1933. Joseph & first wife Sarah Elmina along with Reuben J. DEVOE are buried in Mt Hope Cemetery; Tombstones Range 4, Lots 1-114. Rochester, Monroe County, NY. 1900 1st day of June Census, Wayne County, Lyons Township/Village Joseph DEVOE, born Nov. 1842; age 57; married to 2nd wife for 7 years; R.R. Conductor Eliza DEVOE, wife; born July 1847 age 52 in England; parents born England; In 1857 became naturalized citizen. Last time I can locate Joseph & Eliza is in the 1910 census for Lyons Township/Village, Wayne County, New York where it is indicated this is 2nd marriage for both of them. 1900 Census 1-2nd day of June, 1900 Grace J DEVOE and her brother Reuben J. DEVOE are boarders with family J. & Mary McCLINTOCK (early 40's) 240 Averill Avenue in Rochester, NY Grace J. DEVOE; born Sept 1875 age 24; occupation: schoolteacher Reuben J. DEVOE, born Jan 1883; age 17; occupation clerk in Laundry Reuben did not die until 1933; unknown as to whether he married or not; I cannot seem to locate him in the 1910 or 1920 census but it would seem that he is still in Rochester, NY since he is buried there. Grace J. (Jennie Grace) DEVOE meets her husband William SNELL apparently in Rochester, New York where he is a physician at age 26 in the Rochester Homeopathic Hospital. W. M. SNELL is listed in the 1900 census on the 20th day of June 204 or 274 Alexander where I assume this hospital is located as many medical people are listed on this page in the census. He was born April 1874. William M. SNELL, M.D. and Jennie G. DEVOE are married Oct 21, 1902 in Rochester, New York. William is age 28 and Jennie is age 27; first marriage for both according to the marriage certificate which is where parents names are indicated with their maiden names, etc. William is the son of Gideon SNELL and Malona MARTIN; Jennie is the daughter of Joseph DEVOE and S. E. HILLS. This SNELL family are well known in Jefferson County, especially township of Theresa, New York. They do not appear to be a poor family; several were Millers. (coming from Herkimer County, New York). By 1910 census, Dr. William M. SNELL and wife Jennie Grace DEVOE are residing in Theresa Township, Jefferson County, New York. They now have a daughter Almira M.; age 6 and a hired man living in their home David D. MALLET who is a widowed 73 year old; he drives horse for Doctor for his occupation; Next door to them are William's parents: Gideon & Malona ages 70 & 67. By the 1920 census: Dr. William SNELL and wife Grace DEVOE have no children living with them; do have a married housekeeper age 24 by name of Lydia HUNT. Almira M., their daughter would have been about age 16 unless she married at early age, I cannot locate her. Am still trying to locate kin; who might know of relationship of our Mary or Martha Elizabeth "Betsey" DEVOE who was born about 1816...seeking to know relationship of Betsey to Daniel DEVOE who married Phoebe or Phebe WHITE.
