Union Springs Advertiser Thursday, 25 June 1942 CARRIE LOUISE TATE, FORMER RESIDENT, DIES Mrs. Carrie Louise Tate, wife of the late Charles H. Tate. formerly of Union Springs, N.Y., passed away Sunday, May 24, 1942 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lindsey E. Thompson, 6513 Lexington Avenue, Hollywood, California. Mrs. Tate was born in Aurora, New York on January 16, 1861, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Dean. In 1881 she married Charles H. Tate and for twenty years resided in Union Springs where Mr. Tate was engaged in business. In 1911 the family moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa and later to Sioux City, Iowa where they made their home for fifteen years. In 1931 Mr. Tate died suddenly enroute to California to spend the winter. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Tate lived at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thompson, in Hollywood. In spite of her 81 years Mrs. Tate was very active. She suffered a heart attack on May 22 and passed away peacefully two days later. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Robert P. Holderbaum of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Lindsey E. Thompson of Hollywood, California, and Mrs. Perry D. Baker of Los Angeles, California. The funeral was held at the "Wee Kirk of the Heather" and interment in Forest Lawn.
