Dear Friends, I recently asked you all for help in locating information on Lewis Chapin in the 1957 Frontenac, the Union Springs Central High School yearbook. Many, many thanks to those of you who responded...and with such good advice! I spent thirty years as a School Librarian and yes, I soon discovered that yearbooks were a hot commodity. My patrons tended to cut out the pictures that they coveted, an act that made my blood boil, so I offered FREE copies of the pages they wanted. This really helped cut down the theft and vandalism and save our collection! I also want to thank Pat Kimber of the Frontenac Historical Society and Museum in Union Springs. She was able to locate the yearbook with the information about Lewis and send the data on to me. She did exactly what I think Historical Societies are created forÂ…and I greatly appreciate it. Kudos to the Frontenac Historical Society and Museum! I wish them well. Thank you all, Sharon --------------------------------- Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell.
Hi Friends, Please check this out and see if you can help me....I just read an obituary of my great uncle Lewis A. Chapin. He died in 1967. The obit says that the 1958 edition of the Frontenac, the Union Springs Central High School yearbook, was dedicated to him. Could someone who has this yearbook take a look at it for me? It might be only a one line dedication...or their might be pictures (he was their custodian). I'd love to know what was said (and if their are pictures I am begging someone to copy them for me!)...I know their is a copy for sale on ebay but it is $75 and far out of my reach!! I would really appreciate your help as I am in NJ with no chance of getting to Union Springs for a long, long while! Thanks, Sharon --------------------------------- Got a little couch potato? Check out fun summer activities for kids.

I'm finding all sorts of genealogical information for non-relatives as I go through my pension records! >From a Civil War pension record I received (for Jeremiah Raner, claim # 525927, widow's cert # 681907): On 7 Feb 1888, Philip Brown swore: my age is fifty two years and I am a farmer by occupation, my Post office address is Moravia, Cay. Co., N.Y., that previus to the last two years I have lived within about a mile from the claimant, Jeremiah Raner, and have employed him for seven or eight years to work on my farm, that he has workd for me from ten to twenty days during each of said years, that I do not consider him more than one half of a man as far as being able to perform labor on account on Chronic Diaharea, that I first became acquainted with his condition while overseer of the poor in the year 1875 and from that time down untill (sic) about two years ago I know that he ... that during the two years of that time I was Overseer of the Poor of said town of Niles and had to render assistance as such overseer to said Claimant twice of about a month on each occassion on account of such disability... (file was typewritten and signed) [didn't know they had typewriters in 1888!] cheers jeanette -- ---Researching ancestors in Mclean Co, Woodford Co, Ford Co, or Livingston Co IL? I would also love to find that list, especially a church Genoa/Lansing area & surrounding there called Second Presbyterian church & find some records of who belonged. I am looking for burial of a ancestor that I have been looking for quite awhile. The person is Jane Tallmadge Crissey who would have died about 1827-1829. They joined this church back in 1824-1826. Name Jane Tallmadge(various spellings) married to Abraham Crissey(Cressy)also variously spelled, even Cussy. Thanks if anyone can help. sincerely, Patricia in Wisc. ----- Original Message ----- From: <nycayuga-request@rootsweb.com> To: <nycayuga@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 01, 2007 2:01 AM Subject: NYCAYUGA Digest, Vol 2, Issue 119 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. presbyterian churches (Jeanette M Otis) > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Message: 1 > Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 19:16:53 -0500 > From: "Jeanette M Otis" <obstinatesnooper@gmail.com> > Subject: [NYCAYUGA] presbyterian churches > To: nycayuga <NYCAYUGA@rootsweb.com> > Message-ID: > <cc4dd5fa0705311716nb38306eqcee1cefa4ef2ff75@mail.gmail.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed > > I'm looking for a list of (old) presbyterian churches in Niles, Cayuga Co. > Does anyone have that information? I'm looking for a list of (old) presbyterian churches in Niles, Cayuga Co. Does anyone have that information? If so, I'm more specifically looking for a Rev. Evans, who performed at least one marriage in 1843. Cheers Jeanette -- ---Researching ancestors in Mclean Co, Woodford Co, Ford Co, or Livingston Co IL? According to AUBURN NEW YORK IN THE HEART OF LAKE COUNTRY published ca. 1913: "In the year 1858 Mr. David M. Osborne began manufacturing at Auburn the Kirby Hand Rake Reaper, also an improved Feed Cutting Box, his factory being the building on Genesee Street, which forms about one-quarter part of the present main office..... "The average number of employees at the Osborne Works (exclusive of the sales and collections departments) for the past season was 2455, with a pay roll of #1, 568,681.23." According to this article the company had been purchased by International Harvester by 1913. Does anyone know how much longer the factory remained in operation?
