Hello, As the webmaster of TOWPATHERS.com [ http://www.towpathers.com ], I would like to extend a special offer to construct a free webpage for any Senior Citizen who might like to share their historic Erie Canal information on the Internet, but who may not have the capabilities to do so. My name is Cliff Williams, and you can see an example of what I mean by visiting my website and checking out the webpage I built for a Mr. Thomas Doganieri. He grew up in Ft. Plain, NY and was delighted to share his wonderful old photos of Lock-32 and finally get them on the Internet for other interested visitors to see. I hope that you will seriously consider allowing me the honor to do the same for you. Your page will be of similar design, and can contain a little or allot of information. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me. Respectfully, Cliff Williams - Rochester, NY [ http://www.towpathers.com ] [ http://www.buffalonet.org/army ] [ http://www.americasfirstsoldiers.com ]

While we're mentioning DNA projects, I'd like to mention my Shaw Surname yDNA Project. We've got about 40 participants so far, with ancestries documented into England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Of particular personal interest to me are the Shaw families from Cayuga County. I've got two identically matching samples from my own lineage, which is from the Irish Catholic families who settled in Union Springs and then Auburn post potato famine, but I'd love to get some participants from the Shaw families who predated them in the county to see if I can find any links. There were at least three other Shaw family clusters in the pre 1850 censuses, found in both the far northern and southern townships of Cayuga County. As with the Palatine German study, there are also many other ethnic and regional projects in process in addition to the surname projects. Once someone has their DNA tested and has results, it is a simple process to add yourself to multiple studies and databases to look for common family connections. While a yDNA test never "proves" anything except a common ancestry at some point, it can definitely "disprove" a relationship and save you countless hours of hunting down a connection that never existed in the first place, and it is fairly accurate in placing a time frame for the common ancestor, when there are enough samples from different lines to compare. If you'd like to see what a basic project looks like, here is a link to my Shaw Project. It is about as basic as you can get as I don't have time to develop elaborate webpages and more extensive links as some projects have, but it is quite effective. _http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/s/shaw/index.html_ (http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/s/shaw/index.html) At the top of the page you will see links to a "results" chart with the actual DNA results and another link at the top takes you to a list of "Patriarchs" which are basic male lineages (Shaw surnames only) from an earliest known ancestor. Links from that page take you to the Shaw surname forum where people post their original pedigrees that may contain more information than what is included in the patriarchs listing. **************Start the year off right. Hi Kathy, It has been a while since I've done my genealogy because of my husbands health. But I am not trying to get back into the swing. I helped on the Saint Michaels/Chestnut Hill Cemetery on Cayuga Co. Web. How do I go about signing up on the World Families Network. Cayuga County families that connect to the Palatine German Immigration group of 1710 will very likely be interested in a recent announcement of the "Palatine DNA Project." You can read about this on the Upstate New York Genealogy website at: www.unyg.com and clicking on the "UNYG Blog."
Hmm, you know, it would be interesting to let maybe Gary and Donald Fink know about this. DNA doesn't change for men. It stays the same generation after generation, which is how cousins are found. The maternal DNA really doesn't tell much except general area of origin. Well, those who aren't into this aren't so interested. I really would like to have the Smith DNA entered into the Smith studies. Finding that family is still a challenge. -----Original Message----- >From: Dick Hillenbrand <nygenes@gmail.com> >Sent: Jan 14, 2008 6:04 AM >To: nycayuga@rootsweb.com >Subject: [NYCAYUGA] Palatine German DNA Study of interest to Upstate New York Families > >Cayuga County families that connect to the Palatine German Immigration group >of 1710 will very likely be interested in a recent announcement of the >"Palatine DNA Project." > >You can read about this on the Upstate New York Genealogy website at: >www.unyg.com and clicking on the "UNYG Blog." > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to NYCAYUGA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

I'm tracking the DAVISON line of Eliza...specifically her parents and siblings; Parents; John DAVISON (1774-1858) and Cynthia/Sophia/Syche SELOVER (1776-1823) Siblings to Eliza; 1. George b. 1805 m. 1838 to Minerva FORBUSH b.1810 (children: John m. Louisa ROBINSON, Lyman, Mary E. m. Dennis BEVIER) 2. Mary Ann b. 1808 m. Peter VAN DUYNE/VANDYNE/VANDINE (children: John m. Carrie, George, Watson m. Sophia, Margaret, Cynthia, David) I'm interested in finding any male lineage that leads to a possible descendant; Fred DAVISON who was in Bellvue, Jackson Co., IA about 1988 and would have been a caretaker to an old mansion there. I'm also interested in learning anything about John DAVISON's parents; John DAVISON (1734-1786) & Elizabeth ANDERSON (1754- c1835?)
