The Cayuga-Owasco Lakes Historical Society in partnership with the Indian Mound Cemetery Association are sponsoring a new book "They Answered The Call" which will contain short biographies and pictures of Civil War Veterans either buried or honored at Indian Mound Cemetery in Moravia, Cayuga County, NY. The manuscript by Frank Foti and myself is nearing completion. We are looking for descendents or others with reliable knowledge of the vets to review the draft biographies and help fill in some details. We are also soliciting photos of the veterans (no headstones please). You may reply to this message to post your information or send a private email to imcvets@localnet.com. Deadline for entries is 3/15/2008. Roger Phillips imcvets@localnet.com

i was wondering if someone in cayuga counties or surrounding areas would have any information on the barton families. this a longshot but who knows one these days something good will come .my ggrandfather was born in cayuga co. in 1823 his name was elijah BARTON brown. i have heard that there was bartons in this area and thought that perhaps his middle name came from some relation to the bartons his father and mother were joseph and clarrissa. seeing how the pattern of names were back in this time it could be that he got his middle name paerhaps from his mothers side of the family. does anyone know a researcher that i could contact there and have them do some research for me? thank you ken brown

Also, there is the business: Dewitt Photographer at 130 Genesee. Do you know when this picture was taken? There is that sign for Saturday September 1st. 1917 and 1923 were years when Saturday was on the 1st as two possibilities.
