    1. Re: [NYCAYUGA] Syracuse County?
    2. Scott is a village and it is located in the Town of Scott. At present in Cortland Co. Recently while talking to the former town Clerk I found out they have very early vital stats at the clerk's office and still keep them. I am not sure how far back they would go. I lived in Scott before I married. My husband lived in another town. law states the marraige license must be gotten in the bride's place of residence., This may be of help to some of yo searching for records. There is a lot of info on the Seventh Day Baptists that settled there, as well as others. Check with the town of Scott Historian,Cortland Historical Society and Cortland County Historian as well as the Scott town Clerk as all seperate entities. 3. Tom: To the best of my knowledge, Scott was never in Cayuga County. I'm doing this from memory, so someone might correct me, but Cayuga County was spun off from Onondaga County circa 1800. Syracuse, CITY, is the county seat for Onondaga County. I've never heard of it as a county. During the 70's and early 80's my parents would take me on camping trips to Florida and elsewheres. When people asked where we were from, we always replied Upstate New York (to differentiate from NYC) and if giving an actual place would say near Syracuse. That was because although most people had heard of Syracuse and had an idea where that was, NOBODY had ever heard of Moravia- and certainly not West Niles which is where our home actually was along Owasco Lake. Maybe even back then this was happening? 1. Moses COLE and the NICHOLS families of Locke, NY
    2. I am researching the family of Moses and Olive COLE who settled in Locke, NY, where their six (6) children were born: John S. and Thomas S., twins, 13 April 1813; Miriam, 1815; Sally Morina, 11 Augu 1818, Daniel T. ??; and Sarah Jane ?? Some family members seem to think that this family moved to Locke from Washington County, New York. They are related to the NICHOLS family. I found three (3) NICHOLS families living in Locke in 1820: George, John and James, all enumerated on p. 142 of the 1820 census. I have not had a chance to check out the census yet. I know that Thomas S. COLE married Mary Ann NICHOLS. I am trying to prove whether or not she is the daughter of Samuel NICHOLS and Katherine MAXWELL. Samuel could be a son of the above-noted NICHOLS families in 1820. He was b. between 1800 and 1810. He died in Hayfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. dick barr Syracuse, NY
