    2. Sam: Thanks for your reply. After a lengthy absence, I've decided to allow my NY Irish ancestors to drive me crazy again. Have experienced fantastic luck on my Mother's English side. I will email you personally about one of your cousins recent death. He was my first cousin, so he would have been Aunt Eva's great nephew? Have to brush up on this side again. Still searching for the Irish counties of origin of Rice and McNerney. Thanks, Susan From: "Sam Gilmore" [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) Susan, Good to see you still active. 2. Michael Ruddy
    3. Sam Gilmore Your name is the same as my Great Great grandfather, Samuel Gilmore, Born in Schuyler, Herkimer County January 10, 1804 and married Phoebe Maria Brown Sept 5 1833 and lived in Throop, Fleming and Auburn. He was a physician and an inspector of the Auburn prison. His daughter Jane Elizabeth Gilmore married David Henry Palmer June 25, 1863. David, a Presbyterian minister, and Jane "Jenny" (Gilmore)Palmer lived in Virginia City, NV and Penn Yan, Yates County, New York where David built a Presbyterian Church and finished his life as minister there. Samuel's father John came from county Ulster, Ireland in September 1798 in the same year as the United Irishmen Rebellion which ended in June 1798 with the defeat of the rebels at Vinegar Hill. I do not know if the family was involved in the Rebellion. If any of this rings a bell, I would be happy to exchange data. Michael Palmer Ruddy

    1. St. Joseph's RCC, Weedsport, RECORDS from 1860s-1900?
    2. Has anyone had any luck finding and retrieving baptismal and marriage records from St. Joseph's RCC from 1860s forward? Does anyone know if there is a Church Cemetery on the grounds? Or a record of the graves? I am specifically looking for a marriage record of an Alice McNerney (sp?) and a Michael Rice. Michael and Alice are married and living in Weedsport, in the 1870, Cayuga, Census with their oldest daughter, Mary. I believe I have found Michael in the 1860 Census, single and working as a blacksmith. I just can not prove that it is really him. Any McNerneys (sp?) and Rices from Weedsport? 2. Teresa B. Culver
    3. I have seen her listed both ways: Thirza D. Evans and Thirza Dillingham. I assume she was actually Thirza Dillingham Evans. The Biographical Review of Cayuga County, available on the rootsweb site, has a description of Cyrenus Wheeler Jr. It says that Cyrenus Wheeler Sr was married to Thirza D. Evans, daughter of William Evans and Meribah Dillingham of Berkeley, Bristol County Massachusetts. I do not actually know which one is correct. 1. [NYFL] Dalton Cemetery
    2. Lois
    3. Good Afternoon, I recently discovered that there is a record of a Chester Bennett buried in the Dalton Cemetery. The person's email to contact bounced back my inquiry. I need to know more about this man's identity. He may be my gggrandfather who was last heard from in 1865, living in Nunda, Livingston Co., a short distance from the Dalton Cemetery. If anyone has access to this Cemetery's records, I would really appreciate knowing any further information that exists in these records about him. His wife was Ora Olive Bennett, maiden name of Engle. They lived next door to their daughter, Susan Van Riper, in the 1865 state census. 'Hoping to hear from some kind soul... I have sent this to four NY lists, although Livingston Co., may not be covered in each. Thanks...... Lois

    2. Teresa, for what it's worth I have an Isabel(l) Porter from Aberdeen Scotland b. about 1735 married to Thomas Gordon and I thought the same thing about her name not being very Scottish. Apparently it was. Maybe a Spanish royal married in to a Scottish family. I'm also related to the Culvers. Through my Jenkins line, Hannah Culver/Colver. Maybe we're related. Colleen

    1. Allen Mosher and Marion Isabella Wheeler and Culvers and Mitchells
    2. Teresa B. Culver
    3. Does anyone have information about this couple? Allen Mosher (b 1825) m. Marion Isabella Wheeler (b. 4/24/1829); she was daughter of Cyrenus Wheeler, Sr. and Thirza D. Evans. They lived in Poplar Ridge and later in Aurora. I believe Allen was a Merchant and later Banker. They had at least one son Avery W. Mosher b. 1855. The couple seems closely tied to my earlier Culver's in Poplar Ridge. I don't know if it was just friendship or if there were any blood ties. What I know is that Marion Isabella's brother Henry Josephus Wheeler (b. 1834) m. Cornelia Culver (b. 1835). Her brother Ozias B. Culver (b. 1846) m. Frances Cornelia White (b. 1849). They named one son Allen Mosher Culver b. 1872, although as far as I know Allen Mosher was just Ozias's sister's brother-in-law. Another son of Ozias and Frances, Coral Case Culver b. 1874 m. Marion Jemina Stevenson Mitchell (prob. born Sennett, 1877, but they moved to Poplar Ridge before 1890). She had a sister Isabella Mitchell b. 1880 (prob Sennett, Cayuga). Only just realized these two sisters were Marion and Isabella, which might be a coincidence or might be in honor of Marion Isabella Wheeler. The Mitchell's were Scottish, so Isabella doesn't seem like the most common Scottish name. Additional details on Allen Mosher and Marion Isabella Wheeler would be appreciated. (It took 42 minutes to open.) I was hoping that the cemetery would show up. There was a cemetery at Semproinius. Is it no longer in existence? What is the usage today of the building with "double cupolas?" Remember, Bill, that this is a genealogy site. I farmed & still own my farm so I understand & share your concerns but this doesn't seem to be the forum to express the concerns unless you allow me to express some concerns in other areas that I have. 1. 1880 Census Auburn USGenWeb - thank you
    2. <Dear List Members, <I want to say I am sorry for not completing the 1880 Census for Auburn ED # 3 yet. We <had an awful thing happen to my Grandson & family which has delayed any progress being <made with the transcription of the Census. <Grandson & family lost their home & all belongings to the flood that we had on the Esopus <Creek, NY. We have been very busy trying to help him & family get a little sense back to <their lives & needless to say .....> ................................................................... I want to thank each of you that replied either to me directly or via this mailing list. I do appreciate any and all offers for prayers, help, or encouragement. Please keep my Grandson and family in your prayers and should you have any extra cash please donate it to your local volunteer services and/or the Salvation Army, as they were all most helpful - some of the local stores were also great in offering flood victims free merchandise. All of your offers in any form were appreciated and will not be forgotten. I can honestly say, when I read about a disaster that I would be glad that victims were safe, but it isn't until you *see it* or have a *loved one* go through it that you really know just how awful it is. So again, thank you & please support the above mentioned, they all are great! Jan Scholar of Godfrey Memorial Library Volunteer for: Italian Genealogical Group and USGenWeb Census Project
