    3. Sam and Teresa The data I have for The Pinckney-Gilmore relationships comes from a XL spread sheet done by Gary Gilmore. If you do not have this spreadsheet I can send it as an attachment and would like your comments. You can email me direct at [email protected] for the attachment. Going over it again it appears that he married his niece although there is a '?' on the married part. 1. Re: [NYCAYUGA] 1844 Poplar Ridge Seminary Catalogue of Teachers and Pupils
    2. Thank you for posting the contents of the 1844 Poplar Ridge Seminary Catalogue of Teachers and Pupils! At first I wasn't going to look and they decided to do so. And I found my great great grandfather, John M. Lamkin! Was this school a seminary in today's sense of the word? Was it a school for those of any particular denomination? Can anyone read the words written at the bottom of pages 6 and 7? Thank you. Pat

    3. Searching for further on my Bennett ancestors.. Amos Bennett Birth: MAR 26 1739 in Grange, Fifeshire, Scotland UK Death: 1828 in Locke, Cayuga Co., NY Note: Amos served as a private in Capt John Abbott's company, Col Knickerbocker's Regt, 14th Albany Co Militia (DAR, Vol 54, p 386; Vol 92, p 47; and Vol 103, p 148). He was burned out by the Tories and Indians. One of the most thrilling incidents of his military career was his capture of John Parker, the famous Tory spy. He removed to Herkimer County in 1797 and later to Cayuga County. An Amos Bennet is found in the Twn of Mohawk, Montgomery Co in the 1790 Census. His Son Jeremiah Bennett married Sarah Winne in Cayuga Co NY about 1820 and gave birth to my great-grandmother, Alida Jane Bennett Dexter. Anyone with information on Bennett's, Winne's, and Dexter's please respond. Thanks Reba

    3. Teresa I have the following: DeWitt Clinton Gilmore, b. October 29, 1828 d. 1898, married Eliza Jane Pinckney. Dewitt's father was Samuel Gilmore b. June 23, 1783 County Tyrone, Ireland married (1804-1805) Judith Yarnes. Samuel was one of the sons of Samuel Gilmore b. Dec 28 1745 in County Tyrone, Ireland who married Mary Smith b. Feb 12 1736/37 in County Tyrone also. This family arrived in Sept. 1798 in Philadelphia with the children and Samuel's daughter Mary's husband William Bell and William and Mary's two children. Therefore: DeWitt C Gilmore's father Samuel was a brother to my GGG Grandfather John Gilmore and their parents were the immigrants Samuel Gilmore and Mary (Smith)Gilmore from County Tyrone. Samuel Gilmore and Judith Yarnes had a daughter Mary Gilmore who married John Pinckney. According to my data John and Mary's daughter is one and the same Eliza Jane Pinckney who married Dewitt Clinton. Mike Teresa B.
