Mr. Lahr was born in Allegany, October 10, 1866, but left his native town forty years ago to make his home in Salamanca, where he was variously employed with the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh railroad and also with the Fancher Furniture company. His father, George Lahr, Sr., a Civil War veteran, who died fifty-two years ago, was one of Allegany's earliest pioneers and a jolly hotel keeper, a dentist, a doctor, a barber and even a politician. Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Eda Lahr; one brother, Max J. Lahr, of Fillmore; two sisters, Mrs. Adele Gese of Buffalo and Miss Martha Lahr of Allegany. The funeral was held Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock from St. Patrick's church, Salamanca. A requiem high mass was offered by Rev. Michael E. Colligan. Burial was in the family plot in the Catholic cemetery in Killbuck. Prayers at the grave were offered by Rev. Thomas Dunn of Randolph. The pallbearers were Thomas Ward, Anthony Lee, Fred Kohlmeier, Robert Schumacker, Matthew Zimbar, and Philip Lear. Among those from out of town who attended were Max Lahr, Fillmore; Miss Martha Lahr, Mrs. Jennie Blessing, Fenton Blessing, Elton Blessing and Mrs. Victor J. Nenno, Allegany; Mrs. Adela Gese, Edward Gese and Miss Adelaide Gese, Buffalo; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morton, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. Steckmeyer and Robert Steckmeyer, Bradford; Mr. and Mrs. Worth, Limestone; James Ward, Lancaster; and Miss Zada Ellers of Alden."
