According to "American Place Names of Long Ago," there is a Steamburgh in SW Cattaraugus County, population in 1890 was approx. 300. Perhaps this Steamburgh was settled after French's Gazetteer was published in 1860, thus explaining why no mention of it appears in French's work. Maureen M.
