Surnames: LAHR GESE Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RRB.2ACE/5949 Message Board Post: LAHR--George Lahr, who had been engaged in the harnessmaking business in this town for about eighteen years, and was one of the best known men in Geneseo, died last Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock after a long illness. He was fifty years of age and had been suffering with asthma for about five years and heart disease for more than a year, being unable to attend to his business, and it was apparent for some time that this death was certain. Mr. Lahr came to this village from Allegany, Cattaraugus Co., where he was born. He was a man of quiet disposition and was an expert at his trade to which he gave unusually close attention. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Claude and Clarence, who are stenographers in Rochester, and George, who attends school at Ann Arbor; two brothers, Max of Fillmore and Augustus Lahr of Salamanca, and four sisters, Mrs. M. J. Gese of Buffalo and Martha, Lottie, and Henrietta of Allegany. Funeral services were held here on Friday evening and! he was taken to Allegany for burial. Note from Barbara: George's brothers name was Gustave E. Lahr, not Augustus. George was buried in the Allegany Protestant Cemetery in Allegany, NY. His grave is listed on the Cattaraugus County GenWeb site.
