    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Parr, Foulston, Harrington, Herring, Lyon, Westcott Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RRB.2ACE/5918 Message Board Post: I would like to find out information of any kind about the early Parrs of Otsego County. My great, great grandfather, AMOS PARR, was born in Otsego County in 1807. His father was born in England and his mother was born in New Jersey. This is all the information I have about my great, great, great grandparents. I do not know their names or dates of birth. The first record I can find of a Parr in Otsego County is for JOHN PARR in the 1800 census. The household of John Parr consisted of three males under 10 years and one male and one female between 26 and 45 years old. The next record found is the 1810 census of J PARR. At this stage I do not have information about the composition of the household. The first land record is for JOSEPH PARR and ELISABETH/BETSEY PARR who purchased half an acre from Daniel Johnson in the Town of Laurens in 1812. In 1814 Joseph Parr and JOHN PARR JR purchased five acres from Moses Hoag in Laurens. In 1815 Joseph Parr sold his land to John Parr Jr. I think that Joseph Parr possibly migrated to Prince Edward County, Upper Canada. If he did, then he married a second time. His second wife's name was RUTH. John Parr Jr married LUCY HARRINGTON and they shifted to Cattaraugus County in 1831. Besides two daughters, SAREPTA AND CAROLINE, who married brothers, ELIHU and EZRA LYON, John and Lucy had a son, JOHN MORRELL PARR, who was born in 1824 and died in the same year. He is buried in the Presbyterian cemetery in Laurens. MARIA PARR who was born in 1791 married Randolph Westcott. Their daughter, THERESSA, married WILLIAM PARR and they settled in New Lisbon. They later shifted to Hartwick. William Parr was the son of JAMES PARR (1799-1741). James was born in England and became a farmer in the Town of Laurens. James Parr married MARY/POLLY FOULSTON. After James Parr's early death his wife married JAMES HERRING. James Parr had a brother named AARON PARR. They jointly owned land in THE Town of Laurens. There was also another JAMES PARR who was born in 1798 and died in 1811. He is buried in the Presbyterian cemetery in Laurens. It is now clear that there were two Parr families in Laurens in the early 1800s. At this stage I do not know who belonged to which family or how they were related. I think one family was headed by John Parr Sr and the other possibly by Joseph Parr. Any information that would help move me on in my search would be greatly appreciated.
