    1. [NYCATTAR] Re: KREINER family in CATTARAUGUS CO
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Kreiner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RRB.2ACE/5909.1.1 Message Board Post: Mary First of all – Otilli is NOT your G-G-grandfather, SHE is your G-G-grandMOTHER. Under occupation it says ‘Keeping house’ and under sex it says ‘F’. Also, under Place of Birth of Father, it doesn’t say Umbrey, it says Limberg. In all census records the children are born in NY. The 1880 census shows: New Albion, Cattaraugus, New York Otilli KREINER – 48 - Keeping House – Born: FRANKFORD (Frankfurt) Josephine KREINER – 26 - At Home Adam KREINER – 24 - Laborer Mary KREINER - 14 Albert KREINER - 11 For all children it shows Father born in Limburg And mother born in FRANKFORD (Frankfurt). The 1870 census shows: New Albion, Cattaraugus, New York Kreiner Adam – 44 – Butcher - Born: Nassau, Ger Ottilla – 39 – Keeping house - Born: Hesse Josephine – 17 – At home Adam – 15 – At home Frank – 8 – Going to school Mary – 4 – At home Berttie – 1 – At home The 1860 census shows: New Albion, Cattaraugus, New York Adam Cramer – 34 – Day Laborer – Born: Germany Odelia – 29 – House work – Born: Germany Odelia – 9 Julia – 7 Josephine – 7 Adam – 5 Ferdinand – 3 George – 1 Limburg, Nassau and Frankfort are all cities in the province of Hesse-Nassau, Germany. So your G-G-grandmother, Ottilla was probably born around 1831 in Limburg, Hesse-Nassau, Germany. Your G-G-grandfather Adam was probably born around 1826 in Nassau, Hesse-Nassau, Germany. They probably met and married in Frankfurt, Hesse-Nassau, Germany, which is why neither one remembered where the other one was born. I checked both sites where I pay for Immigration info and a couple CD’s that I have, but none of them had info on Adam and Ottilla. I’ve listed four links for German genealogy. At least the first two have links to passenger lists. You may have to go to a library. http://www.hamburg.de/LinkToYourRoots/english/start.htm http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/ http://www.genealogienetz.de/genealogy.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson26.htm Happy Hunting Bobbi
