He had 4 children, one of which was my grandmother. They were Charles Uptegrove who moved to and died in Lockport, NY. And three girls, Bell, Hetty, and Emma Esther who was my grandmother. Hetty or Hethy Married Mathew Strait, not the spelling you have. I believe Mathew's father was also named Mathew and may be able to verify that if I can find some pictures of grave stones that I have. There was a Mathew Strait in the Civil War who served in the same infantry division with Sylvester. Sylvester is burried in the Rawson Church Cemetery beside his wife. This was a wonderful discovery for me. Hethy is also burried their with her son and there are many Straits in this cemetery. Sylvester and Hett (what we called her) both died in Franklinville. I have a wonderful story concerning the discovery of their graves. I would like to hear from you and would like to know why you take such an interest in this family?
