I don't know if this will help either of us, but I'm also looking for a CHENEY in Cattaraugus County, albeit in Salamanca and somewhat later. According to the information I've gathered, Clifford Carleton CHENEY married Nina E. ODELL, between 1910 and 1920, most likely in Salamanca. Nina ODELL was the daughter of my great granduncle David Henry ODELL, born in Tompkins County, NY, and his wife Alice Amelia BURGHARDT, born in Broome County, NY. What stoked my interest in your message/post was the following quote from "Family History of Central NY, Volume 1". "7. Lyman Josiah Cheney, born October 11,1860, was successively druggist and dry goods merchant in Delevan, New York. In 1892 he was appointed clerk in the United States railway postal service; prominent in local politics and a supporter of the Republican party. He married in Arcade, Wyoming county, New York, March 8, 1882, Florence N., daughter of Charles and Ravilla Cagwin; children: Lloyd Lyman, born April 23, 1884; Clifford Carleton, June 17, 1887." The birthdate of Clifford CHENEY matches the ages on the 1920 and 1930 Census at the address given for Mrs. C. C. CHENEY, who was listed as the informant on the death certificates for both David and Alice ODELL.
