Assuming that none Alden's siblings moved with him (and that is just an assumption), I have information on the children of all but James, and the two names in question are not among that info. The conclusion is that these would be James' children. By the way, I just got copies of Alden and Alden Jr.'s wills. The one for Alden Sr. is very interesting. It was written two weeks before his death and pretty much takes everything from Alden Jr and gives it to James. This must have caused a big fight because the will was contested and the transcript also includes testimony from witnesses about Alden's competency at the time the will was written. It was finally upheld. Of special interest to me was a comment about Alden's grandson Charles Lathrop (my ancestor). Seems Grandpa was going to leave him $5 in the will, and when the man transcribing asked why he wasn't getting $50 like everyone else, Alden said, "he's a bad boy and won't do as I tell him." (Not too uncommon for a fatherless 15 year old boy.) Alden finally grudgingly agreed to give him the $50 dollars. I'll go back and read through the will and see if I can find the names anywhere in the small print. When I first read through it, I was only looking for my direct line. Jim
