John Locke and his brother, Merton, were on their way to attend the Hamburg Fair when John was taken suddenly with trouble with the heart. He did not live but a few moments after the attack. John was taken to Springville and Merton came for his parents. The news was sudden not only to his parents but to friends and neighbors as well. The funeral was held last Sunday at his home here. Rev. Fuller of Delevan officiated. The Home Guards, of which John was a member, showed their colors and laid their comrade to his final resting place. John Locke was born April 10,1893 and died Sept. 27, 1917. He leaves beside father and mother, one brother, Merton Locke, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Cotton, of Elma. He will not only be missed from his home, but from the community at large as he was well thought of by all who knew him."
