He did not hear the late south-bound flyer until it was almost on him when he attempted to jump aside. In doing so his foot caught either in the rails or ties and he was thrown violently landing on the next track on his back. The flyer missed him but striking on his back on the rail caused him to be badly injured. As soon as possible he was taken to the Olean Generation hospital and given attention by the Drs. J. E. K. and R. B. MORRIS. Until X-rays can be taken the extent of the man's injuries cannot be stated by the surgeon. Osterhoudt is 36 years old and was employed under Section Foreman F. C. Granbow. ============ PERSONALS Mrs. Frederick GODLEY of New York City has returned from Buffalo, where she has been visiting her brother, C. Pascal FRANCHOT and family, and will spent the remainder of the month with her parents, Hon. & Mrs. N. V. V. FRANCHOT of Fairview. Mr. and Mrs. S. P. CAFFERTY of Hornell are guests of relatives in Olean for a few days. John G. PEGLAR of Forest avenue is visiting his son, D. C. PEGLAR at Chattanooga, Tenn. Before returning home he will visit two other sons, G. O. PEGLAR of Beaumont, Tex, and A. R. PEGLAR of Columbus, O. He expects to be gone about three months. Mrs. Palmer BUBB of Bradford is a patient in the Clinic, where she expects to undergo an operation. Mrs. D. HUBBARD of Smethport is the weekend guest of friends in the city. Mrs. Peter FAYE of Smethport is pending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. D. QUINN of North Twelfth Street. Miss Faye WILLIAMS of Bolivar was a caller in the city today. G. D. SIMONS of Attica, NY has returned home, after spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth SIMONS of South Second Street. Mrs. P. F. MANION of Wellsville was in the city today, enroute to Franklinville. Mrs. Lynn BROWN of Allegany was a shopper in Olean today. C. E. BELL of South Union Street has returned from a business trip to New York City. Mrs. C. J. ANDREWS of Genesee street is spending the week end with relatives in Jamestown. Mrs. M. COOLEY of Kane, PA., and Mrs. P. KILEY of Portville were in the city today to see Mrs. COOLEY'S husband, who was admitted to the Mountain Clinic yesterday. Misses Cecil and Lela RICHEY of North First street are spending the weekend in Buffalo, the guests of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. ANDERSON of 205 South Barry Street returned Friday night from Kansas City, Kansas where they spent about two months with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond B. GIBBS Mrs. Gibbs is their daughter and Mr. Biggs is the efficient manager of the Kansas City, Kan Chamber of Commerce. He was formerly secretary of the Olean Chamber of Commerce. Mr. and Mrs. Y. A. YOERK of South Eighteenth street have returned from a few days visit with the latter's sister, Mrs. H. H. ALLEN of Buffalo. Mr. and Mrs. Charles KULP of North Third Street are visiting friends in Buffalo and Rochester for a few days. Charles HERRICK and two sons of Shinglehouse were visitors in the city today. Charles A. HERRICK, editor and publisher of the Oswayo Valley Mail of Shinglehouse, and his two sons Collins and Neil, were in Olean today and called on Enoch MAXSON, Olean's centenarian to be. Births Reported: A daughter was born at the Higgins Memorial hospital last night to Mr. and Mrs. HERRY FLAGG of No. 121 North Twelfth St. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. HOWARD RODGERS of No. 136 South Barry Street, last night at the Higgins Memorial Hospital. ===================
