    3. There are quite a few Crowell families in the neighboring towns of Villenova and Hanover in Chautauqua Co. One of our neighbors was a Crowell who did genealogy but I believe old age and dementia have since set in. I don't specifically have any Gertrude's in my files. Ancestry.com shows a Gertrude, b 1918, d 1991, daughter of Daniel and Alice Crowell. They lived for a time in Mississippi. There was a family of English who settled in Markhams, just outside of South Dayton. The photographer is likely a descendent. There is a Dayton Historical Society or the Gowanda Historical Society as potential homes if relatives can't be located.
