My mother was doing some family tracing a few years back and found out that her great great grandmother was an Emma Colf. Born somewhere around 1840 married a Nelson Butler. They had a few children which I have not verified yet...William, Viola, Emerson E, and an Emma N. Sorry the only date I have is for Viola. who married Jessie T Milligan. Vilola was b. 8 Nov 1871 and died 3 Dec 1953 All were from or around Glenn Falls, NY or Ellicottville, NY.. Machias, Cattaraugus Co, NY. I have headstone jpgs for Jessie T Milligan and Viola. Below is some info I had received... Viola Butler b. 8 Nov. 1871; d. Hudson Falls at 1:10 a.m. 8 Dec. 1953, a resid. of 71 Sheridan St., Glens Falls; bur. Sunset Hill Cem., Ellicottville, Cattaraugus Co., Per obituary in The Post-Star of Glens Falls, NY. She m. Jesse Titus Milligan, b. 1868; d. 1916, who was farmer at Ellicottville, NY in 1910 with wife Viola M. and children Harry H., Guy B., Bessie E. and Charles W. Per obituary, surviving children were Guy B. Milligan (b. c. 1892; res. Ellicottville, NY in 1953), Elizabeth I. Milligan (b. c. 1894; m. J. Earl Greene; res. Glens Falls in 1953), and Charles W, Milligan (b. c. 1896; res. East Randolph in 1953). Viola is prob. the Viola Butler, b. c. 1872, in 1880 h/h of farmer Nelson H Butler and wife Emma at Machias, Cattaraugus Co NY., in 1880 with other children William, Emma N. and Emerson E. Butler. I am looking for both sides of this marriage.. Colfs and Butlers. I think the father's name for Nelson H was William and he had married a Mariette Hopkins Meachum. Now all I need is back from there.. I also understant Emma's mom and dad might have come from overseas as Mr. Colf had gone back to England to kidnapp his wife?? I still am unclear on that part of the family but it is Colf b. 1815? married to a ? Seversmith?
