-----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Laura Greene Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2006 12:08 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [NYCATTAR] NY State Library Resources (History of RICH family) You said the history that Lillian and Millicent Rich wrote is at the NY State Library in Albany. I just wanted to let you know that they may be willing to make a copy of the book for you, and if not, there are volunteers in Albany who would probably be willing. They have an "overhead" copier, so if a book is particularly fragile, it often can still be copied. (Just post a message to the Albany boards or ask if someone on our own boards lives there and would be willing to copy it.) Six years ago we went there and discovered the library had numerous letters written by our ancestor Isaac Hardenbergh in 1813 & 1814 stored in their Special Manuscripts division. To our astonishment, the staff not only laid these letters in our hands, but then proceeded to copy all of the letters for us to take home. (I did not obey the "ssshhhh - you're in a library" rule at that moment!). A few years earlier, I called the regular circulation area, and one of the staff looked up a record in a non-circulating old book for me and gave me the information by phone. The people working at the NY State Library are just great. One more note - the NY State Library has many old microfilms of Cattaraugus county newspapers, although not as many as the Cattaraugus Museum. They lend out these films to ANY library via Interlibrary Loan, so it is simply a matter of getting the film number, and asking your local library to borrow it on your behalf for a very small fee. (Be sure your own library has a reader with a printer attached - you can only read the film in your library!) Good luck to you........ ***maybe the Rich Family Association, with which Millicent Rich Horth was associated, could help you get a copy. http://www.richfamilyassociation.org/ At 12:36 PM 10/4/2006, you wrote: >-----Original Message----- >From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] >On Behalf Of Laura Greene >Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2006 12:08 PM >To: [email protected] >Subject: [NYCATTAR] NY State Library Resources (History of RICH family) > >You said the history that Lillian and Millicent Rich wrote is at the NY >State Library in Albany.
