Gould was educated in the public schools of Dunkirk and in Waterford Academy in PA. He learned the tinner’s trade and in 1872 came to Cattaraugus, where the same year he married Sarah R., daughter of Danford Rich. He entered the employ of Oakes & Elliott where he has since been engaged, having the business charge of the establishment.” (p. 837, Art Burch transcription).....of the 1893 HIstorical Gazeteer and Biographical Memorial of Cattaraugus County. Mine is the Rich line, so I've not pursued his parents.
