Good Morning Chuck, I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately, after generations of research in our family of these particular Williams' in Tompkins Co., we just don't know where they came from before Ithaca, NY and that area. My ggGrandfather, Samuel Williams (married to Betsey HILL), is found in the 1850 Census (for Ithaca) but unfortunately he died in 1854 in a train accident in Tioga County, NY as an employee of the railroad. His children were relatively young so not much information was passed down - at least in my branch, of the family origins. My Great Grandfather was only a toddler when his father died. This lead for Little Valley, Cattaraugus Co. is the most recent I have found.
