I know that the Bethuel Hitchcock home in Victor has been recently purchased and is being researched for the new owners. I found Bethuel in Hartford Ct, I think, before he went to NY. If you are unaware of this piece I will get out my notes and tell you what I know. In the meantime, anything we can learn about the William next door to Otis in 1840, will be useful, if only to eliminate him from my possibilities. William was and is a name that has "adhered" in the family. William's son was Porter William, and the next three generation (my grandfather, uncle and cousin) were Lawrence William. I have long suspected that William's father may have been William as well. There is a William who shows up in Ontario Co in the 1820 census but I can learn nothing else about him.
