Author: aurina Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.cattaraugus/10485.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: i am sure that there are books-there are books on everything-but there are a lot of peoiple here willing to help for free-and dont feel badly-we all did the same-who cares about those people-theyre so old! youth are concerned with their own lives-then the people with the answers die, we move 10 hours away, making research problematic, and we kick ourselves. so, get a good genealogy program, as things tend to snowball and take on a life of their own with this hobby-next thing u know u have 5000 names, and 100 photos of tombstones, and when u find an answer, you cant remember where u put the question. record your sources- u may want to go back and re-read, re-affirm. some parks and rec places will give classes-however, i wouldnt go myself-i'd rather spend that time researching. locate your nearest library with a genealogy dept that has access to ancestry and or heritage quest-they have many records, incld census, on line. find your local fhl by going to www.familysearch.org-u ! will want to rent films-not everything is on line. also, not everything is on film either. more later- - - Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
