I'm doing some research on my Steffenhagen surname and I'm seeking info on Rachel Steffenhagen, born 1835 in Prussia. She came to America in about 1853. Her parents were John Steffenhagen and Maria Yorsen, buried in the Maplegrove Cemetery, Machias, NY. I know very little of what happened to Rachel. She seems to have married soon after coming to the Cattaraugus area. She married an unknown King and in the 1880 census is a widow with one child, William King, born 1857, living in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, NY. page 171C. Any information on Rachel, or her son William, or the King family she married into will be greatly appreciated.
