If you're perturbed, you're perturbed; there's not much I can do about that. In my opinion - and you're totally free to disagree with it - there was nothing wrong or off topic with Mr. Samuelson's post regarding new gravestones. But then, I'm neither the list mom nor will I pretend to speak for him (or her). And if you want to ban him from the list you administer, that's your prerogative. If it's the ads on newyorkgravestones.org you find offensive, you need to realize that ads are ads are ads - short for advertisements. The definition of advertisement: ad·ver·tise·ment noun 1. a paid announcement, as of goods for sale, in newspapers or magazines, on radio or television, etc. 2. a public notice, esp. in print. 3. the action of making generally known; a calling to the attention of the public: The news of this event will receive wide advertisement. Note definition 1 - they're out to sell you something; think of it as capitalism. And putting the word "Free" in an ad is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Never assume anything is "free". I've dealt with sampubco. So he sells information; lots of people do. The question isn't "Can I get the information sold there elsewhere?" because you can. The question is "How much is it going to cost me to get the information for free?" There's actually enough information posted on the sampubco site so you can find the information elsewhere. There's just a lot of grunt work to do. And grunts typically don't work for free. Bill p.s. my spam filter blocked your reply; I haven't quite figured out why.
