Specifically I am now seeking information on an Ernie P. Mapes (1887-1912), son of Phinando Philando Mapes and Hattie Elizabeth Brooks. Ernie was born in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY in 1887 and in the 1900 census is living with his family in Bradford, McKean Co., PA (right across the NY/PA border). I have no source for his marriage, but he is alleged to have married a Gertrude Roseboom in 1907, but I am unable to find the couple in the 1910 census. Ernie Mapes died in 1912 and is buried in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY. Questions: Who is Gertrude Roseboom? When and where was she born and who were her parents? Did Ernie and Gertrude ever have children? Did Gertrude remarry after Ernie died? Willing to share information.
